Suppose a 0.04 kg car traveling at 2.00 m/s can barely break an egg. What is the minimum speed a 0.08 kg car would need to have in order to break the egg?

B. 1.00 m/s

Can anyone give me an equation or way of solving it to guide me to find the answer?

The first car has momentum = (0.04 kg)(2.00 m/s) and barely cracks the egg.

The second car's mass is double that of the first. What would you expect its velocity would need to be if a little more momentum is necessary to break the egg?

I don’t understand completely but I’m guessing it would need a minimum speed of 1.00 m/s since it’s double the size

The same momentum will barely crack the egg. You want a velocity that will break it. Think about it ...

Well, the highest momentum from my options would be 2.00 m/s which was the speed of the 0.04 kg car. I’m guessing if the 0.08 car was going at the same speed, it’d be able to actually break the egg.
