sommerfeld lectures on theoretical physics

I want to read Sommerfed Lectures on Theoretical Physics. I started with vol.1 Mechanics.

Just wondering if anyone here has read any of the vols? Or perhaps wants to read them in the future?

I think i have seen them though dont remember much. Undoubtedly they are of a high standard. But if there is any stuff on quantum mechanics, check the original year of publication. Because early on they believed (and i believe sommerfeld also felt so) that quantum nos had to be integral and hence overlooked spin. So the Q.M picture presented might fall short. If it is in the late 30's it should be ok. The Landau Lifshitz series came later and that is still highly rated even today.

The year of the Mechanics course is 1942. I guess the other books are close.

Also, I think quantum mechanics is not covered in the course. The vols are

1.Mechanics
2.Mechanics of deformable bodies.
3.Electrodynamics
4.Optics
5.Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics
6. PDE in physics

I do intend to read the Landau series after. But I think sommerfeld course is easier, so I want to do it first.

By the way, I managed to get my hands on the first 5 vols (most of them borrowed from the library), but I haven't seen PDE in physics in english nowhere. Can anyone confirm that there the 6th volume was translated to english?
