Quantum Atomic structure questions
I need help with two problems that cover quantum atomic structure (quantum numbers, angular momentum, spin, etc.)
1. For l (lower case L) = 2 (a) what is the minimum value of Lx^2 + Ly^2
(b) What is the maximum value of Lx^2 + Ly^2
(c) What is the value of Lx^2 + Ly^2 for l = 2 and m = 1
2. Find the minimum angle between the angular momentum L (bold means vector) and the z axis for a general value of l, and show that for large values of l, θmin ≈1/(l)^1/2
If anyone can point me in the right direction for these two problems I would very much appreciate it.
