I found some new viewpoint which considers the parallel universes to be interacting all the time, while their relations shape the way our single universe looks.

This idea makes much more sense for me (personally) than the colliding branes theory.

If we assume that subatomic particles have a size not just in space-time but also extend into other dimensions, then, via these other dimensions, they could interact with particles that exist in other space-time branes but that do not extend into "our" space-time brane.

This then would possibly give the opportunity for these extra dimensional interactions to explain the "weird" behavior of the quantum world.
