Which of the following shows the orientation of the original object --> plane mirror

Question #1

Please tell me WHY the answer is D because my tutor couldn't answer me.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Well you could look at it as follows.


From the laws of reflection, the distance of every point on the obect from the mirror is the same as that of its corresponding point on the image from the mirror.

The image in a plane mirror is laterally inverted i.e. if you move your right hand, your image moves its left. But if you move your hand towards or away from the mirror, the image also does the same.

Only D will satisfy these conditions.
