The basics?

Hey,

I have zero experience of latex, does anyone have any ideas of places and/or books that are good to learn it?

Even just the basic, so I can use it here.

This will probably help you start. I'll see what I can do about posting some help files.

The following addresses are what I used in order to learn. All off them have something useful to learn. It mostly depends on what you want to do. I still use as a reference the last one (the not so short intro to latex)

http://www.andy-roberts.net/misc/latex/
http://theoval.cmp.uea.ac.uk/~nlct/latex/novices/novices.html
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/LaTeX
http://tug.ctan.org/tex-archive/info/lshort/

As far as books are concerned my opinion is that the best one is
http://iris.math.aegean.gr/LaTeXBook/
It's quite easy to follow and covers almost everything you will ever need.

I hope that helps.
