Question Tension problem

A train engine pulls two cars with an acceleration of 2.2m/s^2. The mass of the engine is 100 kN, the mass of the first car is 20 kN and the mass of the second car is 75kN. Neglecting friction, what is the tension in the connecting bar between the engine and the first car and the tension in the connecting bar between the first and second car?

I dont know what the variable k means in this problem and im lost
