A 205kg log is pulled up a ramp by means of a rope that is parallel to the surface of the ramp. The ramp is inclined at 30 degrees with respect to the horizontal. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the log and the ramp is 0.900, and the log has an acceleration of 0.800 m/s^2. Find the tension in the rope. a. 2730N b. 904 N c. 232 N d. 1810N e. 356N Thanks for your help
 Feb 19th 2009, 03:56 PM #2 Senior Member   Join Date: Dec 2008 Location: Las Cruces NM Posts: 256 My opinion is: Total force parallel to the ramp = (mass of log)(acceleration of log up the ramp) Total force parallel to ramp also = (tension in string) - (component of gravity parallel to ramp) - (force of friction) = (tension in string) - (component of gravity parallel to ramp) - (component of gravity normal to ramp)(coefficient of kinetic friction)
