 Oct 8th 2018, 01:10 PM #1 Junior Member   Join Date: Oct 2018 Posts: 1 Energy and Work (pV diagram problem) Hi there! So I've never taken physics until now (first year in uni) so I'm struggling to say the least. I'm trying to do this problem of a pV diagram and I'm stuck on b). I've done a) and c). I'm just confused how to find Vc in an isothermal process because if it was adiabatic then I could use the adiabatic law with gamma.  Jan 10th 2019, 03:53 AM #2 Senior Member   Join Date: Oct 2017 Location: Glasgow Posts: 277 For isothermal expansion: $\displaystyle P_1 V_1 = P_2 V_2$ We know that $\displaystyle P_1 = 3 P_2$, so $\displaystyle V_2 = 3 V_1 = 3 \times 0.004 = 0.012 m^3$ Last edited by benit13; Jan 10th 2019 at 04:00 AM.
