Help me please

Hi everyone , i am Lamiae from morocco....
My question is about electrical conductance. Why its symbol is the capital lettre G ??????
Please help me .... And sorry for my bad english 😊😜

I've always known it to go by the symbol (lowercase Greek letter) sigma. I had never heard of G until you mentioned it in this post.

All symbols in all equations are just the result of someone at sometime choosing a symbol that suited them at the time.
Some of these become adopted by others and eventually become used almost universally by everyone.
But it is still just a tradition or convention to use that symbol, people can (and do) use any symbol they choose, as long as it is clearly indicated that they are choosing this particular symbol for that particular purpose at this time.

It's very simple.

You can't use C because that is already used for capacitance.

Many people want to use English symbols that were available on the typewriter and later in standard computer languages and placed in equations.

So we have Resistance (R) ; Impedance (Z) ; Conductance (G) and Admittance (Y) as the standard first used by electrical engineers.
